1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [company name, registered address and registration number, to be added before launch] (“Tandem”, “we”). They apply to the Tandem apps for iPhone and Android, the web app and the tandem.app website (together, the “service”). By using the service you accept them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
2. Who can use Tandem
You must be at least 18 years old. You may use the service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
3. Accounts and joining without one
You can create an account with your email address and a password, with a passkey, or with Apple or Google. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens in your account.
If your partner invites you, you can join their household without an account. Your access is then tied to that device or browser, and some actions (changing household settings, inviting others, exporting) need an account. If you lose the device before you create an account, the household owner can invite you again to the same place, with your history.
4. Households
A household is shared by its members. Everything you add to it (expenses, settlements, comments) is visible to and can be edited by the other member, and stays part of the household’s history if you leave. Your income and sign-in details are never shared. The member who created the household is its owner and can manage its settings and invites.
5. Money stays with you
Tandem records what you tell it and calculates who owes whom. It is not a bank, a payment service or a wallet. When you settle up, Tandem only opens a payment app or copies payment details for you; any payment happens outside Tandem, between you and your partner, and we are not responsible for it.
6. Receipt scanning
When you scan a receipt, an AI model reads it and proposes an expense. It can make mistakes, so check the amount, date and split before you confirm. Nothing is saved as an expense until you do. The free service includes a monthly number of scans shown in the app; typing expenses is never limited.
7. No financial advice
Tandem shows your own numbers and the calculations you ask for. It does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice and does not recommend financial products.
8. Your content
You keep all rights to what you add. You give us the permission we need to store, process and show it to the members of your household, only to provide the service. You can export your household’s data at any time.
Don’t use the service to break the law, to harass anyone, to upload content you have no right to, or to interfere with the service or other people’s use of it (for example by probing for weaknesses or overloading it).
9. Price
The service is free and has no ads. If we introduce paid plans, we will say clearly what they include before you pay for anything, features you already use will stay free for your household, and we will give at least 60 days’ notice of any price change for paid plans.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep Tandem available and your data safe, but we can’t promise the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or improve features. If we stop offering the service, we will tell you at least 60 days in advance so you can export your data.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live, or our liability for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health. Otherwise, as the service is free, we are not liable for indirect loss, and you remain responsible for checking the records and calculations you rely on.
12. Ending
You can stop using Tandem and delete your account in the app at any time; what happens to your data is described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
13. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update the date at the top. We tell you about material changes in the app or by email at least 30 days before they apply. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account before then.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Slovenia, without taking away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. Write to us first at [email protected] and we will try to resolve any problem. If we can’t, you can go to the competent court or an out-of-court consumer dispute resolution body.
